Technology for Today and Tomorrow

We recommend that all technology purchases be preceded by education and research. Technology changes more rapidly than most anything else. Whatever you buy today is likely to be "yesterday's technology" by the time you get it home. Unless you have a compelling need for top-of-the-line hardware and software or an unlimited budget, try to buy the least expensive item that meets your needs.When it comes time to upgrade, and it always does, you will not feel wedded to the old because of its high acquisition cost. 

Two technologies to consider now are VoIP and 64 bit multi-core CPUs.

VoIP

VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) is the future of telephony. For many of us, RHFtech included, it is the present. What痴 so great about VoIP? It is low cost, mostly fixed cost, and it has a slew of features today with more to come. A Vonage residential line costs about $27.50 per month after all fees and taxes. What a customer gets for that is free calls locally, across the US, to Puerto Rico and Canada. International calls are inexpensive. It costs 4｢ per minute to call the United Kingdom and only 3｢ per minute to call Italy. Voice mail messages are available from any telephone or by email. Call forwarding is a breeze and it can be changed either from a telephone or the website. All that is required is a broadband connection.

If you don稚 want to commit to this just yet, then we recommend trying out Skype. It does not require any commitment. All you need to do is install their software and make sure you have a working microphone attached to your computer.

Dual Core or Quad Cord CPUs

Don稚 buy single core CPUs. It is yesterday痴 technology. All new computers should incorporate dual or quad core CPUs
