Internet Explorer 7 – zoom the web page or change text size

Web pages often do not display well. Text can be too small or too large. Images are often too small to see well. IE7 icon Internet Explorer 7 has tools to change both text and image sizes quickly and render a page more legible.

Zoom the page
Sometimes you want to increase the size of the entire page so that images as well as text increases. Here are two methods –

  1. Keyboard shortcuts
    • Type Ctrl + (use the plus sign on the number pad) to zoom in.
    • Type Ctrl - (use the minus sign on the number pad) to zoom out.

    These shortcuts can be used repeatedly to further zoom in or out.

  2. Use the Status Bar zoom icon IE7 Zoom icon on the bottom right of the IE7 window.
    • Click on the small black triangle to display the menu and then select the desired zoom size.
    • Click anywhere else on the icon to quickly cycle between 100% - 125% - 150% zooming.

Change text size

  1. Click on the IE7 Page icon icon on the right side of the toolbar.
  2. Select Text Size from the menu.
  3. Select the size you want from the pop up menu.

You can place an icon IE7 Font Size icon on the toolbar to get faster access to change text size.

  1. Right click in the area just below the address bar.
  2. Select Customize Command Bar from the context menu.
  3. Select Add or Remove Commands...
  4. Locate and select the Size button in the left side panel.
  5. Click the Add-> button.
  6. Click the Close button.
