Microsoft Word - AutoText

Word’s AutoText is stored text or graphics that are immediately available to insert into a document. Your home or business address or a corporate logo might be an example of useful AutoText.

Creating an AutoText item:

  1. Type the text or insert the graphic into a document.
  2. Select the text or graphic.
  3. From the menu bar, select Insert -> AutoText -> New
  4. Accept the proposed name or replace it with something more appropriate.


Inserting AutoText:

  1. Place the mouse cursor in the document where you want to insert the AutoText.
  2. From the menu bar, select Insert -> AutoText -> AutoText.
  3. The AutoCorrect dialog window opens. Make certain you are on the AutoText tab.
  4. Select the item you want to insert from the list.
  5. Click on the Insert button.
