Collaboration - Edit with Brackets

Here is a tip for an elegant and simple solution for editing a document shared by two or more people. The method is to use square brackets – [ and ] – in a set order to delineate edits.

The sequence is:

[remove]
[remove[add]
[remove[add[comment]
[[add only]
[[[comment only]

You can use up to three opening brackets, but only one closing bracket for a single edit. For example, let us suppose that two people are editing the following:

Original version
Small business, home business, and residential clients use RHFtech as their IT department. Try us; you and your staff will be more productive.

Edited version
Small [business,] and home business[[es], [and[as well as] residential clients use RHFtech [as[for] their IT[ department]. [Try us; y[Y]ou and your staff will be more productive. [[[Punchier, less wordy. Do you like the changes?]

Accepted version
Small and home businesses, as well as residential clients use RHFtech for their IT. You and your staff will be more productive.
